There are many ways of reducing those outrageous and ghastly fuel costs. I am sure you have at same point or another heard about these but just take a few minutes and read through these tips and maybe you too can save a couple of pennies.
- DRIVE EASY - Don't accelerate too hard or brake too hard, drive easy. I know you probably want to get home after work as soon as possible and are revving your vehicle more than you should be but are you actually getting home substantially quicker. Chances are that you are not and even if you are the difference is probably very small.
- MAINTENANCE OF YOUR VEHICLE - Check those tyres, are they all the same make, are they properly inflated, are they balanced and tracked properly, probably not. Make sure your car has a maintenance overhaul regularly (as prescribed by the manufacturer). What exactly is involved in a maintenance overhaul I hear you ask. Well the engine oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter and spark plugs (or glow plugs if your car is a diesel) all need to be changed. Please note diesel glow plugs might not be needed to be changed, check with mechanic.
- EXCESS BAGGAGE - You would be amazed at the amount of excess baggage people haul around in the boot/trunk of their vehicle. Get rid of all those unnecessary items in you boot. Don,t let things roll around on the floor of your vehicle. Do you really need that roof rack/box, do you know its creating wind resistance and increasing fuel consumption. Switch off that air-conditioner, close your windows and use your vehicles flow through ventilation
- FUEL EFFICIENT VEHICLES - If you can afford to then purchase a fuel efficient vehicle, maybe an electric/hybrid or a vehicle which runs on LPG (liquid petroleum gas). Hydrogen is where the future lies but that's something still relatively new but still worth thinking about.
